New! Hallmark IX

Meet the new face of Sculpture To Wear!

This is a five year old lightweight Show Cob that I spotted whilst judging at a show in Cork in 2008.

As a four year old he had all the framework, great movement and wonderful limbs as well as quality and presence. All these attributes are so hard to find in a Cob, I really thought he could be the best Cob in England! All I had to do was the to find the money to buy him and so the pension fund was raided!!

In August I collected the horse myself from Ireland and delivered him to Jack Cochrane. Jack was quite relieved when he saw him as I had been teasing him so much that I think he was expecting a “cartoon horse”. He is liver chesnut with a big white face, so “Hallmark” seemed the obvious name choice for a horse that would represent my Equestrian Jewellery Company.

Within five weeks Jack had Hallmark ready to go to his first show. This was Flintham Ploughing Match in Lincolnshire which is quite a large Agricultural Show. Being towards the end of September many horses have their last run before HOYS. Hallmark swept the board winning the Ridden Horse Championship and even beating a former HOYS Champion! Jack then took him in the Working Cobs Class which he won in fine style and went on to win the Working Horse Championship! So a great day was had, winning 2 trophies, 2 sashes and £100.00!

Some producers think we are mad to jump Hallmark in the Working Cob Classes but as a 3 year old he hunted a full season in Ireland and he just loves jumping, I think this keeps him sweet!

With great excitement Jack and I planned Hallmark’s 2009 campaign. Jack and Hallmark has certainly done my company proud. Here is a list of their achievements this season so far:-

What a record!

Hallmark IX really has the 'wow factor' and has endeared himself not only to other professionals and judges but our customers have really taken to following his progress. Because he is also very cute and loves adoration, members of the public come to pat him in the collecting ring!

Hallmark IX really is a wonderful ambassador for my jewellery company. Jack and Hallmark IX's next date is the big one Horse of the Year Show - Lightweight Cob Class 10th October 2009 so watch this space!

The horse of the year show

Hallmark did us proud at Horse of the Year Show by winning the Lightweight Cob Class.

To quote my wonderful producer Jack Cochrane, "He is amazing for a 5year old, he behaves like an old timer" - Actually, I think he is Winston Churcill reincarnated because nothing phases him and he knows what to do all the time!

Saturday's Evening Performance was really an "electric" atmosphere. Hallmark strutted into the arena for the Championship like the true show horse he is. He went beautifully. I had my fingers crossed tightly when the First and Second from each section were pulled into the centre. After the Judges deliberated for a few minutes, the Heavyweight, The Keystone Cob, took the championship and we were chosen as Reserve. We were absolutely thrilled!

Well done to Jane Webber and Carol Bardo, who have also had a super season with their cob. As far as Hallmark was concerned , it was all in a night's work as he ambled back to his stable, a large feed and his own secuity man, Steff who took care of him every night. Hallmark IX is a horse of a lifetime and Jack and I are looking forward to the 2010 season with him!

Best wishes

Rosemary Hetherington
